Daedalus is a creative endeavor we took on ourselves. The project started as an attempt to see how far we could push early artificial intelligence technology in an attempt to build a comic book. What was originally a digital experiment quickly expanded into both a physical and interactive comic located at daedalus.am, a social media campaign, animated scenes, 3 Behance case studies and a full line of merchandise with corresponding marketing assets.

The Daedalus story follows Estafos and Suraya - strangers who meet by accident while trying to solve the mysteries of the planet that has them trapped.

Primary Logomark

We built the Daedalus logo after our favorite retro and sci-fi logos. We love how the types rhythmic letters feel almost like a monospace font, offset by the dynamic diagonal of the A.

The Labirynth

To complement the logotype we pulled the same ligature weights into the logomark, utilized here for a maze configuration. In the modern brand environment, having a logo that scales to a wide range of sizes without losing fidelity is incredibly important, and our maze mark works within these constraints with ease.

Physical and interactive comics

By creating a digital imprint of the comic in addition to a physical one, we were able to reach readers worldwide who would normally be cut off by shipping restrictions. We then took the digital comic even further by animating each panel and building a fully interactive website, complete with licensed background music tracks for full reader immersion. In total, over 64 panels and 4 cover pages were animated. Check out the digital comic at Daedalus.am.

Marketing Collateral

To coincide with the comic launch and drum up pre-order sales for the physical comic, we produced over 60 media and social posts. We also created 3 separate Behance posts. Our project went viral on Imgur and was featured in several creative and lifestyle newsletters.

Merchandise Line

Alongside the comics we produced a limited capsule collection of apparel and merchandise items. We also created a series of promotional materials and marketing assets for the merchandise.
