The olive oil market is crowded with ornate bottles, gold-embossed labels, and family trees longer than a Greek epic. Most brands try to whispers tales of ancient groves, noble traditions, and secret harvesting techniques passed down through generations. And while that’s all very romantic, we had just one question: Does it actually taste good?

That’s how Elaio was born. No pomp, no pretense—just ridiculously good olive oil. The kind that makes everything it touches taste better. The kind that your Yaya (Greek for grandma) would drizzle over everything with a generous hand and a knowing smile. Because olive oil isn’t meant to sit on a pedestal; it’s meant to be poured, shared, and enjoyed.

So we ditched the over-the-top branding and focused on what really matters: hand-harvested, cold-pressed, extra virgin perfection. A taste so fresh, so vibrant, it practically hugs your taste buds. And because we believe great olive oil should be as inviting as a home-cooked meal, we’re making it accessible, friendly, and absolutely not a secret.

Brand Name Etymology

In keeping with its roots and the brand's strong Greek heritage, Elaio derives its name from the Greek word for "olive." The name was an obvious choice because of Lazaris's own Greek heritage and love of genuine, premium olive oil; it was straightforward, memorable, and true to its core. We respected tradition while producing a brand that is distinctive on the shelf by choosing a Greek name that sounds approachable to a Western audience. Made for people who value authenticity, Elaio is more than just another olive oil; it's a celebration of Greek craftsmanship, flavor, and culture.

The Elaio logo is playful. Using bespoke typography, the letterforms create the visual representation of an olive oil droplet, clearly and simply reiterating the product promise. This unique logo strikes a balance between instant recognition, strong shelf presence, and approachability. We developed a memorable and useful brand identity by incorporating visual storytelling into the typography, which helps Elaio stand out in the crowded olive oil market while keeping a sleek, contemporary look.

Every brand touchpoint is seamlessly integrated with Elaio's collateral design system, resulting in a unified and identifiable identity system. Each item, from striking lamp post banners to the product boxes for suppliers accentuate the brand's playfulness. The design system leverages the olive green color to reinforce the product and the neon yellow to pop off the shelves.

Color palette and typography

Elaio’s bold visual identity was designed to demand attention and stand out on shelves. We chose a friendly and fat rich display typeface to reflect the healthy fat in the olive oil. This was paired with a meticulously curated color palette—deep dark green for richness and depth, olive green for authenticity, and a bold neon yellow to inject modern energy and shelf impact.

The contrast of these colors against the clean, no-nonsense packaging ensures Elaio bottles pop off the shelves, standing apart from the sea of traditional, ornate competitors. This strategic use of typography and color not only reinforces the brand’s fresh, confident personality but also enhances visibility in both retail and digital spaces, making Elaio impossible to ignore.
